【摘要】:Thisguideisintendedtoprovidebuildingprofessionalswithacomprehensivemethodologyforevaluatingwaterleakagethroughwalls.Itaddressestheperformanceexpectationsandservicehistoryofawall,thevariouscomponentsofawall,andtheinteractionbetweenthesecomponentsandadjacentconstruction.Itisnotintendedasaconstructionqualitycontrolprocedure,norasapreconstructionqualificationprocedure.Itisintendedforevaluatingbuildingsthatexhibitwaterleakage.Qualifications8212;Useofthisguiderequiresaknowledgeofbasicphysicsandofconstructionandwalldesignprinciplesandpractices.Application8212;Thesequentialactivitiesdescribedhereinareintendedtoproduceacompleteandcomprehensiveevaluationprogram,butallactivitiesmaynotbeapplicableornecessaryforaparticularevaluationprogram.Itistheresponsibilityoftheprofessionalusingthisguidetodeterminetheactivitiesandsequencenecessarytoproperlyperformanappropriateleakageevaluationforaspecificbuilding.PreliminaryAssessment8212;Apreliminaryassessmentmayindicatethatwaterleakageproblemsarelimitedtoaspecificelementorportionofawall.Theevaluationofcausesmaylikewisebelimitedinscope,andtheproceduresrecommendedhereinabridgedaccordingtotheprofessionaljudgementoftheinvestigator.Astatementstipulatingthelimitsoftheinvestigationshouldbeincludedinthereport.Expectations8212;Expectationsabouttheoveralleffectivenessofanevaluationprogrammustbereasonableandinproportiontoadefinedscopeofworkandtheeffortandresourcesappliedtothetask.Theobjectiveistobeascomprehensiveaspossiblewithinadefinedscopeofwork.Themethodologyinthisguideisintendedtoaddressintrinsicleakagebehaviorpropertiesofawallsystem,leadingtoconclusionsthatgenerallyapplytosimilarlocationsonthebuilding.Sinceeverypossiblelocationisnotincludedinanevaluationprogram,itisprobablethateveryleaksourcewillnotbeidentified.Leakagesourcesthatarelocalizedanduniquemayremainandmayrequireadditionallocalizedevaluationeffort.Thepotentialresultsandbenefitsoftheevaluationprogramshouldnotbeover-represented.Thisguideisnotintendedasadesignguideorasaguidespecification.Referenceismadetodesignfeaturesofawallonlyforthepurposeofidentifyingitemsofinterestforconsiderationintheevaluationprocess.Thisguidedoesnotaddressleakagethroughroofs,leakagebelowgrade,orwaterthataccumulatesduetowatervapormigrationandcondensation.Itisnotintendedforusewithstructuresdesignedtoretainwater,suchaspoolsandfountains.1.1Thisguidedescribesmethodsfordeterminingandevaluatingcausesofwaterleakageofexteriorwalls.Forthispurpose,waterpenetrationisconsideredleakage,andthereforeproblematic,ifitexceedstheplannedresistanceortemporaryretentionanddrainagecapacityofthewall,iscausingorislikelytocauseprematuredeteriorationofabuildingoritscontents,orisadverselyaffectingtheperformanceofothercomponents.Awallisconsideredasystemincludingitsexteriorandinteriorfinishes,fenestration,structuralcomponents,andcomponentsformaintainingthebuildinginteriorenvironment.1.2Investigativetechniquesdiscussedmaybeintrusive,disruptive,ordestructive.Itistheresponsibilityoftheinvestigatortoestablishthelimitationsofuse,toanticipateandadviseofthedestructivenatureofsomeprocedures,andtoplanforpatchingandselectivereconstructionasnecessary.1.3
